Most 'er the posters

Overall I am happy with the way this part turned out. the motion is correct thanks to the roterscoping and the effect of the paint has worked nicely. The frame rate is about right as well. I feel i should have carried on painting for longer getting the bit of time just after hes thrown the ball.

S0 i have finally finished the colour side part of the animation! now all i have to do is finish the black and white parts with the graphics tablet. Also id like to create a few posters from the frame i created.

Frames to add

  • I'd like to take footage of the ball being thrown and the camera following the ball and hitting the mirror in one take.
  • I need to show the ball crossing the boundary between colour and black and white.
  • I will need to show the mirror itself alot more and decide on how it will look. a few shots of it standing in its surroundings by itself would be a good idea.
  • a few more shots of the ball being found and picked up.
  • perhaps a few more facial changes and exaggerated body movements.
  • I need to work out how the mirror will explode.
I only have todays of studio time left so tomorrow and the day after im going to have to stay in that studio as long as i can.

What to do, What to do.

My story needs a major rethink, it seems to be a bit all over the place at the moment. I put this down to the fact im trying to fit it around the images i already have rather than just starting again. My original story board looked like this:
But i revised that to fit it better with the things i ended up drawing:

So now i think its got a bit too complicated so im going to strip it back to the bone and try a much more simple story with a short story arc. If i can i will include some of the animations iv already done but i wont try to crowbar them in when they are not needed. The story will be about a man who wants something but is physically and/or mentally incapable of getting it. i will clarify all this later.

Shocking fail.

Today i tried to animate a face looking shocked. the images i created looked good but once i had put them into this animation i found the movement didn't really work. If i had drawn the background in aswell it might have been clearer that the camera was moving round the subject, not the othe way round. None the less it may still work in my final animation. I liked the expessive use of ink and colour.

NCFE Film Using Still Photography.

Short film using stills from around Brighton.

This is just a bit of a messy loosely made film for my NCFE film project.

Todays Work.

The projector is really helping me to create alot of sequences very quickly. These two worked out pretty well. the one with colour is actually larger than it is here, i cropped it because i couldn't find a scanner big enough. I will do some more complete ones later today.

This is a better quality and size than the last one and the movment isnt so jerky. I have slowed it down abit to show more clearly the individual frames. Tomorow i will do a final cut of this animation.

"...and when i do things that feel right, Magic happens."

These are a series of photographs i took of a light in a dark room that flashed alternately red, green, blue. I attached the light to a string and swung it in circles taking a photo every second or so. when sequenced together they gave the impression of movement.

5 Minute Experiments

Though i don't particularly like any of these i feel they were worth while experiments. They were very quickly drawn (a few minutes) using a white board. I didn't feel the white board was a material i especially liked using.
