Sand Experiments

NCFE Film Using Still Photography.

Short film using stills from around Brighton.

This is just a bit of a messy loosely made film for my NCFE film project.

Todays Work.

The projector is really helping me to create alot of sequences very quickly. These two worked out pretty well. the one with colour is actually larger than it is here, i cropped it because i couldn't find a scanner big enough. I will do some more complete ones later today.

This is a better quality and size than the last one and the movment isnt so jerky. I have slowed it down abit to show more clearly the individual frames. Tomorow i will do a final cut of this animation.

"...and when i do things that feel right, Magic happens."

These are a series of photographs i took of a light in a dark room that flashed alternately red, green, blue. I attached the light to a string and swung it in circles taking a photo every second or so. when sequenced together they gave the impression of movement.

5 Minute Experiments

Though i don't particularly like any of these i feel they were worth while experiments. They were very quickly drawn (a few minutes) using a white board. I didn't feel the white board was a material i especially liked using.

Moth Ball.

I actualy hated this animation when i first put it together as it didn't really seem to work. So with nothing to loose i just chucked in all the frames i had taken making it look very jerky and glitchy which on some level actualy seemed to work. I don't reckon it'll be used in my final piece but it was an interesting thing to try out.

Plastuck.

These were further experiments with photographic animation. i like the effect of these but they don't really fit in with the rest of my idea.
I started with the lowest layer of the threshold which only showed the white plastic bag. i then did the next layer which showed the face.
I took photos of somebody trying to tear a plastic bag off their head to portray literally someone pushing through a boundary.
I feel that these pictures work better in the above still form.
